Suspicious Death of 1989 worker activist Li WanYang
Human Rights and Democracy Information Center reported that a worker activist Li WanYang , who was involved in the 1989 democratic movement and had been imprisoned for 22 years, died in a Hunan hoispital this morning. His friends said that Li Wangyang might have been tortured to death, while the authority disguised the case as suicide.
Li Wangyang, 62-year-old, was a worker in a glass factory. After the June 4 incident, he was imprisoned for 13 years on the charges of counter-revolutionary . In 2001, he was released but then quickly jailed again for 10 years for subversion of state power. Last year in May, he was released, when he became blind . His friends pointed out that his blindness was resulted from torture.

Also, Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China will call for a protest to against China’s persecution of worker activist Li WanYang.
